UPONG - Underpanter Professionals and Openly Naked Guild
UPONG (pronouned you-pong), which stands for the Underpanter Professionals and Openly Naked Guild is billed as everyone’s thrid favourite fictional organisation. Started as a way to get those who work from home the same respect as those in suits and ties, UPONG has grown into a phenomenon that very few people actual enjoy.
The Mission
The UPONG mission is simple: promote, foster, develop and generally empower the unwashed masses that make up the stay-at-home SEO community.
Not only does UPONG believe that these people, the Underpanters, are an excellent, untapped resource for the SEO community, but in a wider context, UPONG believes these poeple are the truly extraordinary performers in the Search space. They may eschew suits, and sometimes clothes fullstop, entirely, but that does not make them second rate in ability, results nor ROI.
No longer will they sit around festering in their own stink without a voice. Oh no. For while UPONG is around, UPONG will give them a voice, and it shall be a powerful, original, and awe inspriing voice.
History
UPONG has had a colourful history. Upon inception, with the classic post Underpanters Get Own Trade Group, Michael Motherwell, who thought up the terms Underpanter™ as well as the acronym UPONG ( a joke many Aemricans missed, as the word “pong”, which means “smells bad”, applied well to the unwashed home workers) and Scottie Claiborne, isos insider and irregular poster, where imagined as El Presidente and Treasurer.
Recent Developments
Later, when it became clear that the joke didn’t need real people to work, Mike and Scottie were replaced by the new, imaginary El Presidente, Terry Wrist (funnier said out loud) and Treasurer Sarah Emma O’Guru (usually abreviated to the hillariously witty S.E. O’Guru), installed so as to allow UPONG to move in inceasingly ludicrous directions, without worrying about damaging the stellar reputations of isos main protagonists.
